Balauresti village, 2017

Long time I haven't posted anything due to I wasn't in Moldova. This year I'll be spending a month in Moldova and bring you new photos.

Moldova it is a very beautiful green country. Despite high corruption people are still friendly and
simple, however if they suffering financially they will go stealing or something like this.

A little about Balauresti and Nemteni villages.
Villagers prefer to grow they're own produce, on the yards around the house or on they're land around the village.
Some villagers are quitting the work on the land, the health and lack of modern technologies are forcing them to do so.
Red cranberry is very common in the villagers gardens. Sometimes they make gem from it as well.

Black currant.
The garden around the house of villagers looks like this.
Every industrious person must have a clean and full garden. Starting with wine grape to beans, potatoes, cucumbers and others.
The meat also is home grown. Goslings, chicks, turkey's and other comestible birds are found on the yard of a industrious man.
Growing Berry's to sell in the city is a habit for some villagers. Raspberry's are delicious specially home grown.
Things left from Soviet Union still at work, to expensive to replace or repair some households.
Aluminum pots are at most use.
The dishes are washed by hand and water is brought from the well.
Sower system are not a lux that villagers can enjoy.
Having a dog on a chain next to gate is something villagers practice as a alarm that someone is coming.
Cows are hand milked. Due to lack of modern technologies. Twice a day the caws have to be milked. It takes a strong hands and fingers to milk a cow to milk 2-3 gallons.
Then the milk is filtered, so there will not be any sand grains or hair or any other things. It is not processed by boiling or other ways. It is left for few days. The sour cream is separating from the yogurt, sour cream comes on top. Then the sour cream is collected the pot with the yogurt is put in hot water to boil until whey comes yellowish, after this everything is put into a strainer and the cottage cheese is ready.

 Another goslings flock.
The way between Balauresti and Nemteni it is about 4 km (2.48 miles). Usually people walk, if they have other transport like bicycles or horse carts or other transportation they are happy to use it because the road it's up the hill and little hard to walk.
A disabled women from Nemteni riding the bike to Balauresti.

Things homemade by elderly long time ego.
 Homegrown vegetables.
Villagers do not exactly have "islands" in their kitchen, most of the time they prepare things outside.
Here they prepare jars with goods for the winter.

 It's a long proces.
The boiling process...
 The conservation process.

After, are left in a warm place for a few days.
This is a pool for collecting rain water. Rain water is used for irrigation, laundry or other things.
 Beans are looking good.
I think the cat is using the "time machine".
Some villagers goslings are already big.
Heavy duty "vaz", another 'toy' from Soviet era.
This is a "jiguli", still popular in Moldova.
The turkey is waiting for her babies.
Ones there was light at night.
 A road through Balauresti.
The bridge at the end of the road.
 Still usable...
As you see cars can't use the bridge, they have to use other roads.

Ones in this area was a public shower. Now there are wild greens everywhere.
The older generation from the area has past away. The new generation not so often comes here, so there you see abandoned wells.
 Abandoned road.
This pear is from hunger era.
The walnut also from hunger era (1941).
The houses where made from clay and wood.
 Handmade lock.
 Another abandoned well.
 Abandoned ''Cishmea" well.
A local master, Ilie Munteanu, made something beautiful for  Balauresti.
 The old School.
 One of the central road.

 Still going old style.
Traditions...For hundreds of years people of this lands had hand made lots of things like this rugs from the wall, which are used as a home decor as well as a isolation for heat or coolness.

Simple kitchens for simple people.

 The entrance to basement.

The front yard of a house.
